If you are here and would like to know why I made this blog so ugly here is the down low: I made it ugly because I wanted to.
Well, not really only because I wanted to. It is a hat tip to the person who has helped teach me the most about making money online. If you have searched for any of the major make money online keyword phrases you have probably been to one of his (or her) sites. You probably backed out immediately or clicked on one of the shiny Adsense ads that you saw.
That, my friend, is the point of an ugly site.
You make the reader - nay, the search engine vistor - make one of those knee jerk reactions that end up making you, Google, and your advertiser money. You shout at them with your cheesy site design and crappy black text on white background set up. “Click on my ads or leave,” you shout. “Click on my ads or leave!”
If you end up reading the content, hopefully you will be enriched and walk away with some useful bits of information. But informing is the point of good, clear writting. I try to do that well, but I probably don’t do a good job. Writing well is hard and takes a lot of effort.
Having an ugly website was easy and just required me choosing one of the default themes that got loaded with my Wordpress installation. I may change it in the future or try to optimise it better for ad placement if I ever rank for any good search terms. But I doubt that will happen because I am a noob and have no clue what I am doing.
In the meantime, sit back, relax, and watch the ugliness unfold before your eyes like a symphony of black text on white background.
